Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Johnny Fain is in his twelfth year as pastor at First Baptist Church of Dothan.
Johnny's favorite scripture comes from Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Johnny has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 37 years. Debbie is his best friend, and she loves to cook and sing. She is a wonderful mother and an incredible pastor’s wife.
He and Debbie have two children. Melody is married to Ben Greene, and they have two daughters, Jackson and Jane. Melody is a 4th grade teacher in the Hoover School system, and Ben is a financial planner. They are very active at Briarwood Pres. in Birmingham. Johnny and Debbie's son, Wesley, is married to Stephanie Brewer Fain. Wesley is an attorney with Surgical Care Affiliates in Birmingham. Stephanie is an associate in the college ministry at Church of Brook Hills. They are both very active at Brook Hills.
Johnny's favorite worship song is 10,000 Reasons, and his favorite biblicle character is Paul. He favors Paul because Paul saw himself as a constant learner of Christ. All he wanted in life was to know Him.
For pleasure, Johnny enjoys riding his Harley, reading and researching history, hunting, and Debbie's home cooking.
The Great Commandment. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment" We are further committed to the second great commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
The Great Commission. We are fully committed to Christ's Great Commission: "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
Follow Christ. Because of Christ's command, we are committed to be His witnesses from downtown Dothan to the ends of the earth. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
